I recently tracked down Rebirth, which is an old software 303, 808 and 909 synth simulator - very cool and you can even download a legal torrent of the install files: http://www.rebirthmuseum.com/

This is it in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__-ZomlkovA
Although you can make a lot more than just classic acid tracks on it.

The developers, Propellerhead Software, have gone on to make the popular synth program Reason. Both Rebirth and Reason also support controls from MIDI input.

I don't see how anyone would want to willingly endure the torture of listening to this. I can - barely - understand that some very short sequences of sounds coming out of this thingie could be used in an electro-something song, but the constant streams of noise in the videos sound like something Satan would force upon the most wretched souls in the lowest levels of hell.

That said, your mention of Jean-Jacques Perrey reminded me that it's been a while since I had a dose of Brazilian Flower, so I've been staring at that cat for the past 20 minutes. Aaahh... my brain thanks you.

Your mention of Jean-Jacques Perrey reminded me that it's been a disturbingly long time since I've had a dose of Brazilian Flower, so I've spent the past fifteen minutes staring at that cat. Aaah, my brain thanks you.
