MLM idiots (AmWay et al) are usually quite easy to get rid of - refuse to pay up front, but promise them twice the up front fee out of the profits they're promising that you'll make. Make it very clear that you're not going to give them anything - the one I usually offer is a 50/50 split of my first year's income, renewed each year until I've paid them twice what I've been asked for.

If they won't take it, ask them why they're not confident that you'll make money; they tend not to have answers, and to get amusingly angry.

I remember last winter while I busted my are for just shy of $10 US an hour moving parcels for UPS, some lady I delivered to tried to sign me up for AmWay or some similar shite, promising a six figure income in my spare time. I looked at her house (one half a semi-detached in a middling neighborhood), her cars (A ten year old minivan and an equally old middle-of-the-road Toyota sedan), and herself (dumpy looking, fat) and decided that she was more full of shit than a septic tank at a Superbowl party at which a particularly bad shrimp dish was served.

To be fair to the scammers (for whatever reason...), there are two ads to the right of this page, one offering a $100k income, and another offering $250k+. So if I suddenly had a brainectomy and started clicking google ads, of course I'm going to go for the $250k+. There's bound to be some form of unrealistic-offering-inflation created.

Here in Australia, I currently get "Money Making Opportunity", "I Quit MLM", "#1 Opportunity for 2009", "$15K a month in 90 days", "Make Money Starting Today", "Executive Level Income", and "Share Purchase & Renting" ("Just one of the ways we make money on the stockmarket!").

On reloading, I've missed my chance; "#1 Opportunity" is gone. It's been replaced by "BigSuccessIsFromBigDreams / WorkWith Millionaires.Simple System All Training Provided Work FromHome".

"Executive Level Income" has gone, too, in favour of "Earn You Ideal Income / Use principles in "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v5FTz7antY">The Secret</a>" [link mine...] to earn $250K+ per year. Start Today!"

There's not a single "figure" anywhere.

Perhaps something's broken.

The only one I've got is "Tired Of Being Broke Yet?
Never Worry About Bills Or Money Again - Find Out How Right Now!". I would like to think that this is actually an ad for a Buddhist retreat that encourages you to discard your worldly possessions and the trappings of modern living in the quest along the golden path to enlightenment and nirvana...
